Art Show

On Saturday April 2nd I attended the Honors Art Show at the University of California, Santa Barbara titled "  ." Truthfully it was the first real art show I've attended. Sure a few years ago I went to the Gettysburg Museum, but I went on a field trip and my purpase was simply to skip a day of school. this art show, although a criteria for art class, was different. The art pieces seemed more involved. The Inc drawings were abstract and forced the viewers to think and see what the artist intended or perhaps see what the image created for them. There where also pieces that where more involved and captivating to more than just the visual sense. In one room you saw, heard and even imagined the art.

I guess the works as a whole entitled an understanding of abstract usage unlike the Gettysburg Museum which had art work more realistic and straight forward. the sculptures are of real people in everyday attire (depending on their era) and the images where portraits of real people or events. Within the art show every piece had a higher purpose above the image shown or seen. They where expressions of style but more importantly they expressed the emotions and personal outlook of the artist.
