Think about it long and hard, why else would the daily nexus be making such a huge deal about such a small prank unless that news paper article had more value than its previous predecessors. We know that the Nexus is all for fun and games when they themselves had already planned to create an April full’s joke within their esteemed paper, so why be royally upset with this one? Unless, the Nexus had conceived some hidden message within this particular paper; a subliminal message to manipulate the minds of the University Students who loyally read the paper of their own beloved institute. Yet, sadly I fear the repercussions to unveiling this conspiracy further so I leave whoever may be reading this entry with one final note: be careful with what you read and choose to believe.

Monday Lecture 2
Within today's lecture the artist Tatsumi Orimoto stuck with me. Seeing his pieces I thought to myself, "Here his a man who truly knows the beauty of life." Orimoto created an ongoing piece of art called the Bread Man. Although the piece in itself is lively and unique, Orimoto didn't attempt to keep it to himself or for a few to simply see, he shares his piece with the world and allows others to even partake and become Breaded people themselves. Its as if hes clamig that although he may have created it, the art belongs to all who allow it to become a part of them.
The most influential and perhaps inspiring part of Orimoto's artistry are the works with his "mama." The photos capture raw emotion, a vast array of emotion. They show both love, sorrow and the flow of life. The creativity shows that hes allowing his mother to continue to live openly and freely despite having alzheimer's disease and also that he's there for her. At the same time each photo releases this orra of sarow and regret, perhaps of the past and the knowledge that soon Orimoto's mother shall pass. In a sense, the photo captures the "ying and yang" if you may about life.

Art Show
On Saturday April 2nd I attended the Honors Art Show at the University of California, Santa Barbara titled " ." Truthfully it was the first real art show I've attended. Sure a few years ago I went to the Gettysburg Museum, but I went on a field trip and my purpase was simply to skip a day of school. this art show, although a criteria for art class, was different. The art pieces seemed more involved. The Inc drawings were abstract and forced the viewers to think and see what the artist intended or perhaps see what the image created for them. There where also pieces that where more involved and captivating to more than just the visual sense. In one room you saw, heard and even imagined the art.
I guess the works as a whole entitled an understanding of abstract usage unlike the Gettysburg Museum which had art work more realistic and straight forward. the sculptures are of real people in everyday attire (depending on their era) and the images where portraits of real people or events. Within the art show every piece had a higher purpose above the image shown or seen. They where expressions of style but more importantly they expressed the emotions and personal outlook of the artist.

Prelims
Confession
This one honestly seems like it will be the most challenging. I think the best way to approach this one is to convey the emotions of guilt and probably relief felt after the confession is revealed rather than actually confess something personal. I guess confessing something humorous might be a nice way to lighten the mood and sort of create this oxymoron with the idea of confession since the general view is that a confession is something serious.
Sequence and Narrative
Currently I have this idea to create like a small comic book with lets say three chapters, but do it in a fashion where if the chapters where re-arranged in no matter which of the six possible arrangements, the events would still appear linear, or in sequence. Don't know if its possible but it's a good thing this is still just a mental process for the assignment.
Alternate Persona
I think for alternate persona, an interesting project would be to go a full day or longer completely acting as someone different, both in appearance and mannerisms. The most interesting part would be to see the responses you get from both the people you already know and those you've never met before. To go longer than a day would be best because with just one day the people you already know might just think its a joke but after two or more they might actually start questioning if you have honestly changed.
Personal Space
After taking sociology 1 and learning about the Territories of the Self, this project seems rather simple. A number of things can be done like speaking to people directly in there faces and seeing if they back away or not. But this is rather simple and I would like to be a bit more creative so hopefully I can come up with a more creative way to approach this one.

Understanding Comics
Within the work, Understanding Comics, the author Scott McCloud breaks down the artistic style of story telling with images so that the reader can fully understand the beauty that surrounds the art. Within chapter one we find that "comics" have existed for a vast period amongst earth and are not simply a more modern imagination. McCloud argues that the consistency of comics throughout time means that this style of art is greatly related to the inner artistic talents of human beings. In a sense hen is saying that comics are one with humans.
Within chapter two, McCloud begins to unravel the inner working of more modern day comics. We learn of the "Icon" and his/her primary function. The Icon is the figure within the comic whom the public should come to relate to. We learn that the more specific a character's image and even persona is, the less the public will be able to relate to the individual. An icon is suppose to allow the reader to be able to placce himself within that characters shoes. By drawing out lines af relativity between the reader and icon, an empathic approache is taken and the reader will be drawn into the art.
The Bride and the Bachelors
The Introduction to the reader, "The Bride and the Bachelors" by Calvin Tomkins, is an attempt to expand the mind set of the readers so that they or we, as student of ArtSt 7A, can look past the norms of society and instead create our own unique and interpretive art.
Within the intro the author introduces five artist; Cage, Cunningham, Duchamp, Rauschenberg and Tinguely. These five individuals have one distinct persona in common; they incorporated humor into their art during a time when art was viewed with set barriers. They challenged the norms and created a glorious "revolt" which showed the world that just about every little minuscule aspect of life can be artistic and thus worthy of being deemed beautiful. Interestingly enough, the artist didn't want to destroy the barriers because that would have been an absurd task so rather they wanted to show the absurdity of following them down to the finest point. It can be interpreted that what the artist sought to do was expand the barriers almost to the point where the barriers where no longer visible.
Although the five artist previously mentioned, expressed themselves by bringing in humor to the equation of acceptable art, what we should take away from this reader is that when dealing with art or even more, when dealing with life there is no one way to develop a solution. As discussed in the first lecture of the class, art is a fart so just let it flow out.
