Growth
Within the beginning of the course we were assigned a blog entry in which we had to express our fears and concerns in taking the class. To sum up my fears they where that I wouldn't be creative enough, I would fall behind and that I would have a difficult time interacting or participating. http://j05ham.blogspot.com/2011/03/concers-and-fears.html (link to concerns and fears)
Well one quarter later and I can honestly say that I'm impressed with myself. I accomplished more than I ever thought possible. I did random and weird things in public while being a part of the flash mob. I went around the majority of two days as a ninja and attempted all kinds of stupid stunts in front of random students passing bye. Not to mention I had to present my projects to the class room on a regular bases. Ya, I would definitely say I've grown and some what blossomed from my protective outer shell. I can recall that at the beginning of the course I simply sat in class and attempted to talk to no one. The less amount of work I could do, all the better.
The one thing I did find was that I did fall a bit behind on my blog entries but in all fairness it was only i these last three weeks. These weeks have been full of midterm, papers and finals so I still think I came out the victor. Hopefully my grades reflect my inner disposition on my involvement on progression throughout the class. Not to sound like a suck up, but I would like to take the moment while your sitting right there and thank Desiree D'Alessandro and Kip Fulbeck for an exciting and enjoyable course. But ultimately, I'm thankful its just about over.

UCSB Courses
I skimmed through the courses and although they look unique and possibly adventurous I am not interested. Sadly I no longer have the luxury of being interested in random classes that don't fall into my major. As you may know I just recently switched majors so I have one year left to complete the majority of the major courses if I want to graduate on time. Sorry if I come off being absolutely no help to you or your cause.
Free: quick girl
so most drawing tend to take me months to draw and for the most part they are left incomplete so I attempted to draw a picture of a girl in the course of a day and this is what i ended up with.
Not bad but I can definately see some flaws. The face is kinda starnge, and probably the hardest part to daw. Also the hair just isn't doing it for me. I need some more practice.

Personal Space
For my alternate space project I played giant checkers with a friend of mine. We have an executive board dinner later tonight so a few nights ago we made a bet that the one who loses the most will buy the other ones dinner. As a tribute to our bet I bought plastic plates both red and blue to use as the checker pieces. the plates are round, just as checkers pieces and one can be placed over the other in a hamburger style in order to represent the kings. The only concern I initially had with using paper plates was that the wind would easily be able to blow them away. Luckily today turned out to be such a calm a peaceful day, weather wise, so that the plates stay where they are suppose to be on the board. Going into the board, the checker board was meant to utilize the space around around so I thought it would work best if I made the pavement into the board. I used tan scotch to create the grid, unfortunately, I only brought one roll so the board didn't end up as big as I would have liked. I figured a huge board would invite more people as well as get in peoples way and cause them to interact.
Checkers can be an intense game. One game took over an hour to play. Although I would like to say that I won I sadly cannot. After half an hour of what seemed to be an endless waltz between our three kings I eventually became frustrated and decided to make a desperate move to take the lead. If he saw the right move then it would guarantee his victory but if not then I do believe I would have won. Well, I lost and now my wallets going to suffer tonight at dinner.
While playing the endless game of checkers many people stopped to temporarily watch and ask the same repetitve question, "who's winning?." With a game like chess or checkers the only thing that matters is the final move, only then can you really determine who's winning. One particular UCSB staff member stopped and had a decent chat with me in which he revealed that he enjoyed this time of the school year because of the performances that random Art Studio 7A students put on.
I think I could have strengthened my project by making the audience half of the class be my checkers or even chess pieces. I could have given them colored shirt to break them into teams and had the chess piece written down and then proceeded to play the game. Oh, maybe next time, but it was still fun.

Back in The Spirit
So although we all know that the Lakers have been out of the playoffs for some time now, and not to mention having lost in a sweep, I felt it was about time I pick my head up once again and look towards a better future. To do so I though I would draw a picture of one of there all time greats: Earvin "Magic" Johnson.
Upon getting to a certain point in my drawing I realized that something was off, the left hand was unproportionally small. The worst part was that I was trying to make a picture using both pen and pensil so there was already pen on the hand and it couldnt be errased. I've oficially given up on the drawing. I hope this isn't a foreshadowing into the next Laker season.
